Architecturally Exposed Structural Steel

Walters has been involved in a number of award winning projects that feature Architecturally Exposed Structural Steel. We realize that not all AESS needs to be created to the same specifications. Our team works with the Architects and Engineers to arrive at a level of detail and finish and connection type that suits the requirements of the project, and the clients budget.

Our work on the Canadian War Museum created architectural steel that was rugged and in keeping with the spirit and nature of the design.

The steel at Pearson International Airport required a high degree of smoothness and joint articulation. The repetitive use of the specialized "wishbones" demonstrates the uniformity attainable in such a specialized design. The King Post Truss used in the newly completed Hammerhead 'F' addition, creates an energetic architectural feel to the act of clear spanning the space.

The new "tree structure" at the University of Guelph Science Complex required the fabrication of key steel castings, and welded joints carried out on site that gave a seamless appearance with the adjoining tubular structure.
